Vegetarian Bowl at Oiden Bowl Bar, City

If I were sentenced to eating rice every day for the rest of my life, I would do it, no trouble.

Sure, it’s probably one of the blandest foods in the world, but that’s kind of the whole point. Whether it’s with pork, pickles or parmesan, you can dress it up however you like!

Oiden is all making your rice meal just right the way you like it. Order your main dish at the counter, then continue along to the cash register picking up add-ons – drinks, pickles, miso and kushiage (deep fried snacky bits) – as you go.

That said, the veggie bowl pretty much has everything you need. On top of the rice, there is boiled spinach, kimchi, mustard pickles, miso-infused soy mince. Plenty going on.

For me, a Japanese meal is incomplete without miso soup, so would recommend it as a simple starter.

If you feel like splurging, grab a cup of sweeter-than-sweet ginger ice tea… you won’t regret forget it!

Like a really fun Japanese cafeteria. Eat in or takeaway.
